The HERBEWO Company was established in 1920 when three independent companies belonging to Rudolf Herliczka, Władysław Berliczka and Stanisław Wołoszyński merged. Its name emerged from the first letters of the surnames of the founders. At that time, it was one of the biggest factories producing tubes and papers for cigarettes, with exports to Europe, Asia, both Americas and Australia. In the 30’s the owners began to build factories on the lots purchased at al. Słowackiego 64. The company operated continuously during the war and occupation periods until 1948 when all its estate was taken by the State. The factory buildings were taken by the Treasury Printing House. In 1992, Andrzej Barański, Stanisław Wołoszyński's descendent, regained the estate and restarted its business activity, resigning however from producing tubes and papers. Instead, a shopping center was established in its place, where a few dozen companies had their counters on the three floors and in the underground. Today, after a thorough renovation, it is home for many Polish and European companies. The company operates as the administrator of both its own and other real estate. The HERBEWO building complex has already become one of the biggest and most attractive office centers in Krakow. The company also leases business premises and apartments of varying standards.
